It was in 2000 when we decided to establish Campotondo. At that time there were no wineries in Campiglia d’Orcia but there was a vivid recollection of peasant farmers who produced traditional “mountain” wines for centuries. Ours is the story of generations of farmers who cultivated strong and unbreakable ties with the land. Campotondo has meant rediscovering these bonds and strengthening them in order to pay back the land and those who cultivated it before us, those who passed it on to us intact and fertile.

When dad planted the first vineyard I was only five years old, perhaps that is why since I can remember wine has always been a part of my life; it is a passion that has grown with me and has directed my path and choices. Already during my studies I devoted time and resources to the family business with great enthusiasm and dedication by participating in fairs and tastings to present our wines, welcoming customers to the winery and telling our story and our work online. For me, talking about Campotondo means talking about my family, my land and my future. I couldn't be more proud!
Paolo
For many years I did a completely different job, but my family has been farming for generations, and I think that's why at some point I felt the urge to go back to farming. Back in the 1990s, I started working in this area, trying to gather as much experience as possible for my education between winery courses, tastings and field work. Then in 2000 I planted the first rows of vines on family land, and since then wine has been a full part of my life. I like to call myself ''a wine craftsman'' because behind each of my wines is my hand and my production philosophy: personality and quality at all costs, with full respect for the land and the cycles of nature.

Until I was 30 years old I was horrified at the mere idea of tasting wine, then after meeting Paolo, I approached this world in small steps and fell in love with it; now I cannot imagine a perfect meal without a good glass of wine. I think that to start a business from nothing as we did takes courage and determination, as well as a fair amount of sacrifice, but then the satisfactions come and those repay all the efforts. Today Campotondo is a hustle and bustle of people from all parts of the world, and our life is enriched day by day thanks to every new meeting, every new toast.
